Christine's actions
Personal Care
Dam the Flow
I will use a menstrual cup and/or cloth pads
Food
Skip the Straw
I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill per day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Pets
Pet Waste
I will spend 15 minutes learning how to compost pet waste at home or research pet waste composting services available in my area.
Pets
Homemade Pet Food/Treats
I will prepare my own pet food and treats to avoid plastic packaging.
Lifestyle
Watch a Documentary
I will watch a documentary film about waste with family and friends and talk about what we learned.
Personal Care
Brusha Brusha Brusha
I will replace my plastic toothbrush with a bamboo toothbrush.
Personal Care
See the Green
I will properly recycle used contact lenses and packaging.
Personal Care
That Was a Close Shave
I will replace my disposable razors with steel razors. Why not try using hair conditioner instead of shaving foam for that baby smooth feel?

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Skip the StrawHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Christine Cornelius 7/11/2019 9:44 AMYes, many locations that have beverages such as Boba/Smoothies offer bamboo straws or sell stainless steel ones. Which is wonderful! Some that do work so great are the paper ones used for cold or hot items like coffee or slurpees they begin to disintegrate before your drink is finished! Starbucks and others have also created (if you forget your mug) a straw free sippy cup lid. I personally like the stainless steel straws most and always (ok, almost always) have one handy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Dam the FlowDisposable tampons and menstrual pads are often quite expensive. What are the economic and personal benefits of this switch for you?
Christine Cornelius 7/01/2019 2:09 PMBy using and buying my Lunette (created by a woman, yay!) a company with great values, charitably programs, etc. I am keeping plastic applicator tampons out of our landfills as well as no longer getting sucked into the Pink Tax and putting less (albeit minuscule) money into the already wealthy Johnson & Johnson. -
