REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Buy Unpackaged ProduceWhy do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?
Kennedy Coopwood 7/30/2019 11:03 AMIn an effort to reduce my packaging, I tried switching to Imperfect Produce. I've only received one box so far, but it seems like it's going to work well. You sign up, put your box together, and then the produce arrives in a couple days. I was happy that the majority of my produce was just loose in the box because, normally, it'd take like six or seven bags to buy all of the produce in the store. I'm pretty happy with the choice so far! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Brusha Brusha BrushaWhat are the benefits of switching to bamboo toothbrushes? How would you implore others in your community to make this switch as well?
Kennedy Coopwood 7/30/2019 10:48 AMI just recently picked up a bamboo Humble Brush and I really like it. It doesn't necessarily feel any different on my teeth, but holding the bamboo handle leaves me feeling good about making a change. I guess it's empowering to be reminded that I'm doing something to help reduce the waste in the world. :) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Lather UpWhat are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?
Kennedy Coopwood 7/30/2019 10:44 AMI feel like switching to bar soap has been the best part of the eco challenge. The soap seems to last longer, which is economical all around. It also makes me skin feel better than the gels that I had been using before. :) -
Kennedy Coopwood 7/21/2019 9:47 PMIt’s been fairly easy to buy foods and such without plastic. I’m having a harder time with random things that I buy sporadically, like potting soil. I suppose that’s the focus on not being discouraged by not doing everything perfect every time, but continuing to put forth the effort. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Host a House PartyWhat are the benefits of hosting a house party related to getting to know your guests, connecting them to the cause you are focusing on, and building your community?
Kennedy Coopwood 7/21/2019 9:42 PMIt was really great to circle around a cause together. It’s nice to know that I have a support system of likeminded people who will work with me to make positive changes. -
Kennedy Coopwood 7/10/2019 1:33 PMI was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get meat at the deli counter without using plastic. This is definitely the route I'll be going from now on! :)
