REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Buy Unpackaged ProduceWhy do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?
Yeshe Clarke 7/30/2019 5:42 PMWhen the food is prepared in any way (ie: cut into pieces) then it automatically gets packaged, most likely in an effort to keep it more fresh. All this appeals to our general laziness around food, wanting someone else to do even some of the work for us. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Minimize PackagingWith the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Shop the Bulk BinsHow has buying bulk impacted the quality of the food you receive? Why do you think Western society relies more on prepackaged foods rather than buying in bulk?
Yeshe Clarke 7/24/2019 5:08 PMI used a brown paper bag to hold almonds I bought from the bulk section and the almonds did not stay as fresh as they would have in a pre-packaged plastic bag. I think western society relies on prepackaged foods because it keeps the food fresh without having to put effort in and it's quick and easy. Our society tends towards what's convenient, quick and easy. -
