Mary's actions
Community
Keep My Community Clean
I will pick up 1 piece(s) of litter each day.
Food
Use Reusable Utensils
I will keep 1 plastic cutlery out of the landfill per day by using my own reusable cutlery.
Lifestyle
Watch a Documentary
I will watch a documentary film about waste with family and friends and talk about what we learned.
Pets
All Natural Pet Toys
I will give my pets natural alternatives to toys like femur bones and antlers, canvas, natural rubber, hemp, rope or cotton toys. Or I will make our own toys from recycled items found in our home!
Community
Share My Actions
I will make my environmental actions visible by posting to my social media networks.
Food
Use Reusable Containers
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Personal Care
Brusha Brusha Brusha
I will replace my plastic toothbrush with a bamboo toothbrush.
Lifestyle
Complete a Waste Audit
I will conduct a waste audit - including recyclables and compost - to understand how much waste I create and where I can reduce the most.
Lifestyle
Natural Fibers
When available, I will purchase clothing made with natural fibers, such as cotton, linen, or wool, rather than synthetic fibers.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Mary Ciesluk 7/22/2019 3:29 AMEthique brand is now at Target! I love their shampoo and conditioner bars. Target is also carrying the sample pack so it's easy to try different formulations.-
Sinclair Boggs 7/22/2019 8:07 AMWow! Good for Target! Just in time too – my bar I bought last July is almost all used up.

Mary Ciesluk 7/20/2019 11:32 AMSkipped the straw and to go cup and enjoyed my smoothie at trifecto in a tall glass. Savored every sip: banana, coffee, cocoa powder, oat milk, ice. Perfect for a hot morning! -
Mary Ciesluk 7/19/2019 7:24 PMLast PF July, I write my my fave local natural foods store about reducing plastic (plastic bulk bags, plastic cutlery for hot foods, etc.). They just posted today on social media that they are participating in PFJ and will be implementing some changes - can't wait to hear what they are! -

Mary Ciesluk 7/18/2019 6:44 PMWhat are your fave ziploc bag alternatives? Looking for bag like things that are washable. Trying a Stasher silicone bag, but wondering if there are others to try?-
Sinclair Boggs 7/21/2019 2:24 PMI found some silicone bags on Amazon that I like so far. They come in a pack of 4 and are less expensive than the slashers so I would be curious how they compare. I prefer the fabric type bags for little snacks since they are less bulky but they are a bit harder to get clean. Seems like all have pros and cons!

Mary Ciesluk 7/16/2019 6:08 PMBees wax wrap is a success! It keeps a cut onion fresh in the fridge, protects the cut end of a watermelon, and kept my pita sandwich fresh for lunch (pic). I have to admit I was skeptical, but I'm sold! Good plastic wrap replacement! -
Mary Ciesluk 7/13/2019 8:22 AMFinal day at Rocky Mt Natl Park and found litter, but at least it was probably accidental litter - a small dropper bottle of what looked like contact lens solution. -
Mary Ciesluk 7/11/2019 10:36 AMThe pika, marmot, big horn sheep, mule deer, elk, and moose that we saw yesterday are living a litter-free life in Rocky Mountain National Park - visitors rock at keeping their trash contained - woohoo!
