Pets
Thrifty Pets
I will purchase my pet's water/food dishes, collars or leashes from the thrift store.

I will use deodorant either from a bar or a jar or I will make my own.
Community

I will host a house party with friends and/or colleagues to watch a movie or present a guest speaker on plastics.
Family
Discover Together
I will spend 60 minutes educating my family on the basics of living a reduced/no-plastic lifestyle.
Lifestyle
Complete a Waste Audit
I will conduct a waste audit - including recyclables and compost - to understand how much waste I create and where I can reduce the most.
Community
Keep My Community Clean
I will pick up 5 piece(s) of litter each day.
Food
Use Reusable Containers
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Personal Care
Just Say No
I will avoid buying toxic plastics, including polycarbonate, polystyrene and polyvinyl.
Lifestyle
Naked Bins
I will either line my trash cans with repurposed newspaper or paper bags, or I will not line my trash cans at all.
Lifestyle
Travel Eating
If traveling, I will bring my own airplane snacks and eat at local restaurants to avoid take-out containers.
Food
Use Reusable Utensils
I will keep 3 plastic cutlery out of the landfill per day by using my own reusable cutlery.
Pets
Pet Waste
I will spend 60 minutes learning how to compost pet waste at home or research pet waste composting services available in my area.
Community
Estimate Your Plastic Consumption and Go #PlasticNeutral
I will visit rePurpose website, complete the 3-minute plastic consumption calculator, and explore how I can reBalance my annual plastic footprint.
Pets
All Natural Pet Toys
I will give my pets natural alternatives to toys like femur bones and antlers, canvas, natural rubber, hemp, rope or cotton toys. Or I will make our own toys from recycled items found in our home!
Lifestyle
Watch a Documentary
I will watch a documentary film about waste with family and friends and talk about what we learned.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Danielle Carter 7/31/2019 5:53 PMAre you sad that Plastic Free July is ending? Not to fear! Your PFJ team captains are already getting ready for a bigger and better PFJ 2020! Look at the fun diversity of reusable straws we brought with us for our celebratory milkshakes (in compostable cups) Great job Team Seattle Aquarium! -
Danielle Carter 7/31/2019 5:49 PMHopefully by next July I’ll have a dehydrator so I can make my own single ingredient dog treats. But in the meantime, Kaia and I are both thankful for Mudbay’s bulk treats and refillable container! -
Danielle Carter 7/27/2019 3:27 PMI may be late to the party, but I found a way to recycle contact lenses and the foil packs they come in! I have monthly contacts, but it makes me feel better to know I can save up my used contacts and foil packs and send them in for free through TerraCycle.

Danielle Carter 7/23/2019 11:07 AMAlso, I kind of want the phone case. Does anyone have one? They are apparently 100% compostable and with the shark design I'm really tempted. -
Danielle Carter 7/23/2019 11:05 AMSaw this on social media. Thoughts? Good timing for Plastic Free July. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kO0nsB6QvRU
