Joanna Caputa 7/31/2019 11:42 AMThe actions I chose were ones I felt I could fit into my routine each day. Goals need to be achievable. As to why I signed up......it’s something I believe in. -
Joanna Caputa 7/18/2019 10:57 AMThis challenge is definitely helping me be more mindful about what I consume that uses plastic. I’ve also started conversations with others about the eco challenge to ask how they cut down on plastic use. I’m finding that many people are concerned but don’t feel they have good alternatives to plastic. I try to share what I’ve learned with them. -
Joanna Caputa 7/02/2019 11:36 AMI joined the challenge because I believe we have too much plastic in the world and we don’t even realize what a problem it has become! Our younger generation (ha, I’m over 60) probably don’t remember a time when you went through fruits and veggies in the store and put them in paper bags. Or no bags at all! Liquid soap was not even heard of so there were no plastic pump bottles and no liquid laundry detergent! There was no body wash either. Baby food was always in glass jars. Our culture has become convenience oriented and throw away and it’s easy to to get sucked into it if I don’t consciously resist and stay mindful of what I’m purchasing.
I want to be a good example for my adult children and friends and feel good about what choices I make.

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Joanna Caputa 6/28/2019 1:31 PMI believe littering and ignoring trash around us devalues ourselves and our surroundings. I do not enjoy looking at trash and I don’t know anyone else who does. I take care of my body, my clothes, my house, my yard, so why would I not care for the world in which I live. Picking up litter is one small thing I can do for myself and my community
to make it prettier and to demonstrate that I care about how it looks.-
Life Unplastic 7/01/2019 8:21 PMI love all of this and whole-heartedly agree. Thanks for stating it so eloquently. 💚
