Rosemary's actions

I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.
Food
Skip the Straw
I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill per day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Food
Use Reusable Containers
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Food
Use Reusable Utensils
I will keep 2 plastic cutlery out of the landfill per day by using my own reusable cutlery.
Food
Use Reusables at Work
I will use reusable dishes and silverware when eating at work.
Lifestyle
Natural Fibers
When available, I will purchase clothing made with natural fibers, such as cotton, linen, or wool, rather than synthetic fibers.
Lifestyle
Watch a Documentary
I will watch a documentary film about waste with family and friends and talk about what we learned.
Lifestyle
Travel Eating
If traveling, I will bring my own airplane snacks and eat at local restaurants to avoid take-out containers.
Lifestyle
Homemade Cleaners
I will make my own cleaning products at home.
Lifestyle
Travel Toiletries
If traveling, I will reuse my old travel tubes to refill with my soaps or only bring bar soaps with me in a TSA approved reusable quart sized bag.
Lifestyle
Travel Smart
If traveling, I will bring my own plastic free items (water bottle, grocery bags, collapsible food containers, utensils, straws, etc.) with me.

Rosemary Brown 7/31/2019 4:54 AMNoticed I have made some family members more eco-conscious! Noticed them skipping the straws when eating out! It's a small step...but every little bit helps! -
Rosemary Brown 7/15/2019 5:19 AMFriends invited us to go out on their boat and have a picnic lunch. Brought along cloth napkins, Corelle plates, stainless steel utensils for a total of for 6 people. They were all onboard and happy to participate in saving the earth! Saved a lot of plastic utensils, paper napkins and plates from entering our landfills! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Travel ToiletriesWhat is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?
Rosemary Brown 7/05/2019 6:44 PMSwitched to bar soaps in my gym bag and travel bag about 3 months ago. Thought it was going to be too messy, but I figured out a way to make it work. I wrap the soap in super absorbent cloth and then I place that in a wash cloth hand mitt. By the time I use it again, it has dried completely and no mess. Love using bar soaps since there is very little packaging and 0% plastic packaging! YES!!! -
Rosemary Brown 7/03/2019 5:00 AMGetting ready to go on vacation. The Eco Challenge will be a challenge on vacation, but planning to recruit family members to participate for the week. Bringing extra stainless steel straws, travel stainless steel utensils and cloth napkins!-
