I didn't have a chance to check in yesterday and thought I could do it now but it's locked... Well, tasks were done just not accounted for in the challenge. Onward!

Today I signed the Greenpeace petition that asks big corporations to stop using single-use plastics in their product. That is the best bet we have: reducing plastics that are delivered with purchased products. Corporations have the power, money and staff to do that. Consumers cannot be the ones running around trying to find a solution to all the waste dumped on them. Stop the plastic monster!

Petition I signed today was to Starbucks.  Companies need to be responsible for the material they distribute and use in their operations. Consumers cannot be the ones trying to find a solution for waste generated at the counter when purchasing a product. Companies have R&D teams to develop what they distribute. It's time to go back to the drawing board...

It is still painful to go grocery shopping. There's so much plastic packaging... and to top it up, Publix still sells styrofoam coolers. Sigh...

Trying to catch up on my challenge. After so many weeks not being able to access or record anything, I thought it would be good to log in and report on as many things I could. I haven't been ordering take-out at all, so that's going well but a shame I couldn't record the past days. We have been eating more and more fruit and vegetables - not packaged - for both meals and snacks. Another plus. Hope to be able to record more for the upcoming days. Go, team!

Some things I had started before today and are already going. Some challenges like take-out, I will do every day either by avoiding them all together (don’t eat take-out food) or doing what’s specified in the challenge. Ahead and up we go!

Doing a lot of cooking these days. Sticking to cooking real food from scratch. Going for healthier alternatives - no dairy, no meat, no processed foods - and less packaging. Cheers!

Grocery shopping is tough when you’re trying to avoid plastics. Between buying bulk and simply putting fruit loose in the cart,  we managed to avoid a lot of it. Of course there’s always the clamshells from berries and the clingfilm from the quartered watermelon, but we are celebrating our progress cutting down on the rest that we could :-)

I've decided to use the clamshells for storing potentially stinky, non-compostable garbage in the freezer until trash pickup day.  Just don't mistake it for your leftover casserole!

It’s hard to avoid plastic on an airplane but at least some airlines, like Lufthansa, make an effort - real cutlery instead of the plastics ones (even though they came in a plastic bag) and real glass (at least for meals) was good to see. It’d be good if more companies did the same moving away from plastic.
