REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Complete a Waste AuditWhat did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?
Mercedes Bleattler 7/26/2019 10:51 AMMy main issue is buying veggies, mainily greens in bulk. I shop a lot at Costco and their big bag of mixed green or spinach in very reasonable. But I end up throwing a lot out. I try to use it in soups and other dishes but it's still too much. The solution is to grow a small plot of greens in my yard that will allow me a continual small crop that I can manage. I don't have the time or talent for a large garden but I should be able to handle a container of greens. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Watch a DocumentaryWhich documentary did you choose to watch? What did you learn?
Mercedes Bleattler 7/14/2019 11:47 AMMinimalism - I love the line from Frank Mascia "Nothing is more responsible than living in the smallest space you possibly can." I live in a smaller size house that I have raised my kids in and still own. Sometimes I would look at other people my age who have large houses and think, "Am I doing something wrong?" I'm learning less is more and to be grateful for my paid small house. I also like the concept of 333 and the simplicity of limiting my wardrobe. And a bonus was the appearance of Jimmy Carter, one of my heroes.-
Stephanie Goulet 7/15/2019 2:35 PMI love having a small apartment - added bonus of less to clean, too! :)

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusables at WorkIt is often true that we only have control over our own actions and not the collective community. How can you lead by example when it comes to switching disposables for reusable dishes in your community?
Mercedes Bleattler 7/14/2019 7:05 AMWe have a lot of potluck and sharing of food where I work. I try to bring my own silverware and plate vs using plastic forks and spoons and paper plates. It can send a subtle message that it's not too hard to bring items like this to store at work at your desk. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Mercedes Bleattler 7/14/2019 6:58 AMI pick up as much as I can on my morning walks around the neighborhood. It's my quiet little way of contributing to my neighborhood's appearance and health. Who knows, maybe my neighbors will observe me and want to join me?-
Stephanie Goulet 7/15/2019 2:40 PMOne time, I was picking up some litter and some random person thanked me and actually started helping me pick up the street. It does happen - not often, but it felt SO good when it did.
Thank you for helping :)
