Yesterday I treated myself to a little shopping spree at LUSH USA. I had no idea that they offered more than cute bath bombs! Their scrubby body butter is 100% plastic/packaging free. Plus, their ingredients are responsibly sourced! One of my new favorite vendors for sure. If you haven't already, check them out.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Shop the Bulk Bins
How has buying bulk impacted the quality of the food you receive? Why do you think Western society relies more on prepackaged foods rather than buying in bulk?

If anything buying my produce fresh (and without plastics) inspires me to consume my produce faster! Time sensitivity is forcing me to eat more fruits and veggies! Awesome! WIN/WIN!

One of my challenges is to pick up five pieces of litter every day, while although small it's small actions that start a big change right? I didn't want to use disposable gloves so I will use tongs. Huzzah!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Buy Unpackaged Produce
Why do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?

I think companies are quick to package with plastic in the hopes of creating the illusion of "clean" produce or "sterile" produce. Why else would they do this? This sort of baffles me because all fruits and veggies are clean after a good sink washing. Any thoughts?
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Use Reusable Containers
How can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?

Going to the grocery store is so hard these days, everything is plastic wrapped! What's a happy, eco-shopper to do? So, if you can't beat 'em, reuse them! Today I took an empty croutons bag, washed it and used it to hold my mid-day work snacks. What other hacks everyone discovered?
