Special thanks to my colleague François-Xavier who surprised me with a gift of stainless drinking straws, thus ending my use of plastic ones! Bravo FX!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Personal Care Pearly Whites
Currently most of the packaging for toothpaste is plastic. How can you advocate for more alternatives through your purchasing power and influence in community?

I didn't even know that there was other types of tubes than aluminum!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

And it's so much more comfortable during extreme heat conditions.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Minimize Packaging
With the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?

Don't be shy to ask your grocery store to go easy on the packaging. It's also in their best interest money-wise and waste-wise.

Yes ! One of my actions is to talk about this with the manager of the METRO Bellemare in Verdun. I have been told that the METRO in Laurier has already gone for it!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Use Reusable Utensils
How can you be an advocate for using resusables instead of disposables for the rest of your community? Where are they currently dependent on disposable cutlery, and how can you convince them of the need for change?

Bringing one's own cutlery to work would also be more hygienic, and save money to the organization that must replenish the unending vanishing utensils from the cafeteria.

I recently bought my own set/box of traveling utensils and they have been much better than the plastic ones.  They are stronger/better and easier to carry!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
Single use plastics have become normalized in our society to the point that most people don't see them as a problem. What would you say to a friend, colleague, or family member who may not understand why these disposables are an issue?

    Joan Beauchamp's avatar
    Joan Beauchamp 7/09/2019 6:55 AM
I take the time to challenge all those around me to do more to limit the use of disposables.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Buy Unpackaged Produce
Why do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?

Even in the Bulk Section, the bags supplied in store are in plastics! Counter productive, no?
