Way less plastic. They seem pretty affordable and you can see and feel how much you have left. None of it seems to go to waste.

I have been trying to go plastic free for awhile so this is a wonderful excuse to really push myself!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

I see a lot of ads especially from Gosili about silicone straws. I was at a comicon and had a conversation about metal and silicone straws
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Use Reusable Containers
How can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?

Find a way to repurpose them before just tossing them. Maybe use them to help plant things. Anything can be reused somehow. Or buy things that can be composted later!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Use Reusable Water Bottles
Using the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed by this bottling process?

Have a really cool water bottle (maybe one designed for awareness) and when people approach you you can explain
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Start Composting
Do an inventory of how much food waste you would save from going to the landfill if you start composting all of the time. What are the added benefits of having compost that is readily accessible?

I noticed a lot of food or scraps are compostable! I think with a bigger composting system I wouldn't throw out a whole lot of stuff. Having a compost accessible is convenient if you have a garden or a few gardens. Dont have to buy soil that comes in plastic!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Buy Unpackaged Produce
Why do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?

I think they do serve the customer in a way for the ease of getting the produce home, for example: blueberries and raspberries. But I think for the most part they benefit producer for the ease of shipping
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Minimize Packaging
With the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?

There are a lot of fruits put in plastic that we buy. So I leaned towards the fruits with their natural packaging like watermelon and oranges, plus they are compostable
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Plant a Garden
Besides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?

Saving money in the long run and will cut down on the plastic and packaging that herbs come in
