Luckily CA has mitigated polystyrene in packaging materials but the odd item like smoke detector housing is still built with it. PVC is apparently most wastefully used as the frustrationful packaging that requires a knife to open, what a pain and bad for the environment!

There is still a ton of avoidable plastic waste created even with visits to the bulk section with my own containers. Will try to think twice about buying individually wrapped snacks, especially for the kids in the future.

So many! Less water usage, less waste manufacturing, less energy, less chemicals poisoning the environment and those that make the clothes. Seems like a no brained. If only the true cost of manufacturing was built into the price of our goods...

It’s serving the consumer who only cares about convenience at the cost of those that deal with the waste: animals, third world countries that accept our recyclables, etc.

It definitely makes me think twice before going into the middle packaged food section. Also, it seems like prices aren’t always cheaper for bulk goods which is a bit surprising but shows that the true cost of packaging isn’t built in.

Fresh snacks are almost always more wholesome and/or healthier and I’m finding that living life more intentionally is actually more rewarding that chasing convenience.

I start to notice how quickly litter builds up in the same places each day and what types of things people toss.

It’s the easiest way to share my passions with the most people who might care 🙂
