July 31 at 9:53 AMI started saving take out containers when I didn't have my own so that my collection is now large enough to have enough matching lids to put everything in the containers. Although these are all still plastic, it's giving them a lot more use than they would otherwise have!

July 31 at 9:50 AMInspired by Jane, I started a compost bin with my Tupperware! Then when a coffee canister empty this weekend, I made that my compost bin :) Double recycle :P

I'm trying to avoid single use plastic by doing things like buying a bigger container of yogurt that I can utilize for multiple servings...

We utilize whatever we can for scooping - this includes frozen berry bags that I wash out, cereal bags (the ones that are inside the cardboard box and are stiffer and thus make scooping more challenging :), plastic wrapping or bags from shipping boxes, etc. We also utilize large dog food...

July 3 at 11:43 AMI never realized how many items are single use plastics at the grocery store before... avoiding them as the side benefit of more fruits and vegetables with less processed foods.
