I'm looking into how to put a filter on my washing machine to trap plastic microfibers before they end up in our waterways.

I patched two of my plastic river floaties today. They had holes and I was tempted to throw them away (they cost $5 each). But in the spirit of the eco challenge I thought I should try to get another summer out of them. I’m glad I put forth the extra effort. I think my patch job was a success!

I have a bag of reusable bags, the difficulty is in remembering to bring them inside the store with me. Social media is a great way to let others know what you are doing and to give someone else ideas of things they can do. Most folks I am on social media with are of similar minds, but if something I do makes one other person start a positive habit then it is a good thing. I also reinforce what my friends are doing.

Reflecting on this challenge-being on vacation made reducing plastic hard. We were eating out more often and I kept forgetting to ask for no straws.
