Rebecca St.Clair
"My mission is to inform my friends and family of the damaging impact plastic has on our environment. I will help my friends and family by inviting them on trash pickups, not using plastic cutlery, and not using plastic water bottles. I have also made it my mission to pick up any trash I see."

Rebecca St.Clair 7/31/2019 4:29 AMI am committed to carrying on habits to reduce plastic after the challenge -
Rebecca St.Clair 7/29/2019 3:34 AMIt's hard to believe that July is almost over. I am committed to pick up trash every day, and to continue to reduce plastic. I have also started looking at other aspects of my day to day activities, as a way to reduce waste -
Rebecca St.Clair 7/19/2019 6:23 PMToday was very busy at work, but I felt great after picking up trash and having a quick walk. -
Rebecca St.Clair 7/18/2019 7:16 PMToday, I was able to meet my trash pickup goals just by walking through the parking lot at the grocery store. -
Rebecca St.Clair 7/16/2019 5:40 AMThis past weekend, I attended a music festival where trash was separated into different categories, where food vendors had to use compostable utensils (although, I brought my own, so I didn't use any), no single use condiment packages were allowed, and no drinks were sold in single use plastic bottles. All alcohol was poured into steel pints only, no plastic cups. I hope that this will become a model for all festivals. -
Rebecca St.Clair 7/11/2019 6:28 AMTonight, I am packing to go out of town, reusing a small shampoo bottle, and taking a bar soap. I will be camping, largely off grid, and I'm looking forward to time with nature! -
Rebecca St.Clair 7/10/2019 3:54 AMI feel like I am moving in the right direction by reducing my plastic use. I am concerned though, by the amount of plastic waste generated by health care. Many things are single use (which is appropriate in most cases), and packaging is often excessive. I would like to see innovation in this industry.

Rebecca St.Clair 7/07/2019 6:03 PMToday was grocery day for me, and it was challenging. I did not use any plastic produce bags, but some of the vegetables I purchased were in plastic.-
Rebecca St.Clair 7/07/2019 6:35 PMGreat suggestions!

Marianne Greco 7/07/2019 6:32 PMLook for a store with produce loose in bins. You can make better selection and avoid the plastic packaging. My small local independent market wraps meat, poultry and fish in paper when you buy it. Big chain markets do a lot of plastic wrapping.

Rebecca St.Clair 7/05/2019 4:50 PMTo cut down on food waste, I have chosen my menus for next week. Tomorrow will be a challenge, as it is grocery day. I plan on walking to a farmer's market for fresh vegetables. I'm also taking small cloth bags so I can avoid the plastic bags in the produce section. I'm also planning a river trip tomorrow, which will be an opportunity for trash pick up! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Rebecca St.Clair 7/03/2019 2:48 PMWhen I'm out and about in my community picking up trash, I get lots of waves, thank yous, and other shouts of encouragement. I also try to talk to others who are out walking. I've met a number of people who live in my neighborhood that I didn't know. It's a great way to meet people and encourage them to not litter.
