It feels great knowing that we are working towards a common goal of keeping our community, green spaces and waterways clean. For this challenge, my 7 year old and I participated in a community waterway cleanup. I feel as though teaching her to make that responsible effort is most important for our future.

Most of us know that the "3 R's" are reduce, reuse, recycle. Recycling is most heavily emphasized in modern Western culture. How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

The "Refuse" has been the hardest to get used to! My family has been carrying our metal straws, and reusable totes. I need to remember to bring containers for leftovers.

Bringing containers is definitely a habit that I have to get into, too. Some days I am really good about it! Another is bringing my own reusable silverware to any cookouts this summer!
