My drink at Laughing Planet (great food chain in Portland Oregon area , with healthy food served on actual plates with stainless flatware and glass glasses) came with a sturdy paper straw. 😊

Really love the bar shampoo and conditioner sampler still - by far the best fir me is the frizz wrangler shampoo and the guardian conditioner- very sleek and glossy hair, smell lovely, and doesn’t get dirty as quickly. Also like - in the body sampler - the pumice and tea tree oil scrub and the vanilla lavender deodorant, the sample of which is running out (and yes, I will purchase a full size bar). Using a tea tree oil soap in the shower seems to help with staying fresher and helps the deodorant be more effective/has less to do. There is a body butter “bar” also in the body sampler, which is very rich but doesn’t “glide” on; insyead I had to warm it between my palms and apply. It was well worth using but I’m not sure it’s so much better that straight coconut oil, which seems to me to have many similar qualities as a body moisturizer. My two cents.

I forgot to bring along enough reusable bags today so ended up buying some new ones, including an insulated one for groceries. Also, when I bought dog food and greener dog waste bags, the clerk asked me if I wanted a bag. I like that sometimes they don’t assume you need one. 👍

So I went shopping yesterday and didn’t have my mesh bags or a reusable shopping bag. So I just put the produce straight onto the bakers and then the checkout conveyor belt. And I thought, why is it that I think I need bags around my items? Will google whether there is a benefit to using bags, period.

Tried the beeswax wraps last night in two items and it works beautifully! Will buy some more soon!

I like my tooth powder! It cleans and rinses beautifully. :-) yes that is a plastic container but this will last a long time and it’s reusable and recyclable. Yay!

Today was my first successful shopping trip - this has been hard for me because it’s a new habit and frankly I’ve been exhausted. But today I made a list, used mesh produce bags and reusable shopping bags, and even bought a glass bottled kombucha instead of a plastic clad other beverage. It felt good to finally do this right! :-)

It turned out to be quick and easy to sign a njpirg anti styrofoam petition. Will do another petition before the end of the month.

I am going to need to learn more about how recycling works in New Jersey. I’m confused as to what is actually working well (eg can I trust that the items I put out for recycling are getting recycled?) and what is not. How good or bad is the situation?

I also want to donate some money to NJPIRG for their anti- styrofoam ban. That stuff shouldn’t be legal anymore.
