We got our school supplies through Walmart's pickup and my husband went to get it. I was so proud that he refused all the plastic bags and used some baskets I had in the van. He doesn't even realize what a change this challenge has inspired in him :)
It has been harder for me this year to do zero-waste meals. I don't know if it's because I have a smaller garden this year or what. It seems like something plastic somehow sneaks into my meal prep. But I am on a mission and will do better!
I'm also finding that items I could previously purchase with less plastic now have more plastic! A couple of things that were packaged in cardboard (which is sometimes recyclable) are now packaged in plastic.
In 9 days "we give ourselves a taste of a plastic-free world. We'll think plastic-free. We'll feel plastic-free. We'll do plastic-free. And it's going to be a very loud moment in the year - across the world - when we tell the plastic-makers that we don't want their products anymore. We want a better world and a brighter future."
