Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
I will advocate for alternatives to single use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, or work.

Natural Fibers
When available, I will purchase clothing made with natural fibers, such as cotton, linen, or wool, rather than synthetic fibers.

Share My Actions
I will make my environmental actions visible by posting to my social media networks.
Food
Skip the Straw
I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill per day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Food
Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste Meal
I will prepare 1 meal(s) at home each day without using any items packaged in single-use plastic.

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Jana Opperman 7/11/2019 5:34 AMLast night-we went out to eat and I ordered a martini (I drink these so I don't have to say"no straw please") but it came with 2 cocktail stirrers! :( so I can't click on my No Straw today...-
Carey Compton 7/25/2019 9:11 AMOh bummer ! The good news is next time you’ll know when you order stay no straw and no single use plastic stirer either -
Louisa Lubiak 7/19/2019 12:11 PMI had lunch at a Cracker Barrel and asked for the unsweetened iced-tea, no straw. I said to the waitress that I was doing the Plastic Free July Challenge and she smiled and said she was aware of that. :-) -
Jana Opperman 7/11/2019 10:39 AMYou're right Carey, that is my most common request and in my habit- but martini's usually aren't served with straws so I didn't say it :( -
Carey Compton 7/11/2019 10:29 AMWhen you order, for example, " I would like a cold glass of water with NO STRAW PLEASE", that usually works.
