That Was a Close Shave

I will replace my disposable razors with steel razors. Why not try using hair conditioner instead of shaving foam for that baby smooth feel?

Personal Care That Was a Close Shave
What have you noticed about the economic and social impact of switching to steel razors? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors, or do you think it was just a way to sell more things?

Like many other reusable items, steel razors save so much money in the long run, and shave just as well as the alternatives - if not better. The blades last longer, shave closer, and can be cheaper. In fact, the specific razor I bought was $17 with 5 blades, whereas the higher end disposable razor heads will cost you around $20 not including the price of the razor handle. Ive never really considered it before, but I'm now realizing I can't think of a really great reason we could possibly "need" disposable razors.

How does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?

You take a second to really be mindful and put effort into your surroundings. It helps you feel part of your environment, rather than separate from it.

Have you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.

Absolutely! Especially here in Gainesville, I see reusable straws regularly. It's also super common for people to skip the plastic cups altogether and use reusable bottles.

    Food Use Reusable Utensils
How can you be an advocate for using resusables instead of disposables for the rest of your community? Where are they currently dependent on disposable cutlery, and how can you convince them of the need for change?

I feel as if people mostly use disposable cutlery in restaurant and takeaway settings and never really think about the impact. Just by being an example, you can trigger others to consider their own impacts.

Social media is a great way for just putting yourself out there to as many people as possible across as much distance as possible. If you just make the effort to write the post, people WILL see it.
