Thank Andy Boy for NOT using plastic on produce
While doing a no-plastic challenge last year I realized almost all leafy produce (kale, chard, etc) is now sold with PLASTIC hang-tags and twist ties :( As I live in New England, there are no local options for these greens during the winter so I broke my challenge once each week so I could still buy kale. Then our local co-op started carrying Andy Boy broccoli rabe and they still use paper and metal twist ties and hang tags! I was so excited and relieved and have been meaning to write to them to thank them for NOT making the switch to plastic. I want them to know customers notice and celebrate this! I may also write to some organic produces, such as Lady Moon Farms, and ask them to ditch the plastic citing Andy Boy as an example of a competitor who gets it done with paper.

Gemma Laser 7/01/2019 8:35 PMI already make a concerted effort to avoid plastic in my food shopping, but some items like cheese, tofu and other veggie meat alternatives are not available in bulk where I live. I've set the ambitious goal of 2 plastic free meals per day as I want this to be a challenge and I really aspire to do better year-round. At the same time, I realize I will not meet this goal many days. I think I will often make at least 1 plastic free meal, however. Thus, I've started a data sheet to track how many plastic-free meals I make each day, even if it's not the full 2. I like the idea of striving towards a more robust goal, while also tracking the progress I make, even when it is not "perfect!"-
Stephanie Goulet 7/04/2019 7:21 AMI agree with Lacy, and also would love to hear some of the meals you've made this month and how you've made them without plastic!
I'm also struggling with cheese especially and things like mayonnaise and sour cream which I don't actually eat but my partner does.
