What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

My biggest concern regarding the anthropogenic actions in polluting the planet would be the increasing amount of municipal waste, and the issues associated with containing/disposing of it.

    Lifestyle Complete a Waste Audit
What did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?

    Maggie Hill's avatar
    Maggie Hill 7/15/2019 3:32 PM
I learned that the waste I create is a bit larger than I expected; however now that I know where it's coming from I can lessen my impact easier. I found I can reduce the amount of napkins I use by having reusable ones and/or cloths.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Use Reusable Bags
How difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?

    Maggie Hill's avatar
    Maggie Hill 7/15/2019 3:31 PM
This challenge was extremely easy thanks to the National Aquarium gift shop providing the most fashionable reusable bags possible! I bought a few of those and keep them in my car in case I go grocery shopping.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Personal Care Just Say No
Do some research on polystyrene and polyvinyl. How many items in your house already contain these toxins?

    Maggie Hill's avatar
    Maggie Hill 7/15/2019 3:30 PM
From what I could gather with the sources I used, there's quite a bit of polyvinyl alcohol in multiple types of cleaning agents we use, but there was little to no polystyrene and any pure type of polyvinyl/polyvinyl acetate.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Personal Care Lather Up
What are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?

    Maggie Hill's avatar
    Maggie Hill 7/15/2019 3:26 PM
The most prominent economic benefit would have to be the decreased consumption rate, meaning I go through less bars of soap in the same amount of time that I would a bottle. The personal benefit would be the lessened amount of effort needed to replace said soap.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Takeout Pro
How could you mitigate issues that may arise if the restaurant does not want to let you use your own containers at first?

    Maggie Hill 7/08/2019 9:26 AM
I tell them that there will be no need for takeout containers, because I already have my own. Usually I have no problems.
