Today may be the "final" day, but my habits won't stop.  I look forward to challenging myself as an ongoing stewardship activity.  Go Earth!

I have been quite active during the challenge this year, and in these last few days I am trying to be active with checking in!    :)

It is a good thing that my dedication to using less plastic or reusing what I have is going better than the daily check in!

Since my waste audit I find myself reusing items so many more times than once or twice.  Storage is a bit of a challenge, but it turns out our throw-away society creates a lot of stuff that has multiple uses...we are only hampered by our own creativity or lack there of.

I have been collecting my jam jars and also the boxed bottom plastic food bags with ziplocks make for great bulk bin bags. East to wash and dry!

I love this challenge, and paying closer attention to my own actions.  However, I am having a hard time remembering to check in!

I passed by a vehicle that had a wild bird scattering garbage everywhere.  I shooed the bird away, found a new garbage bag, collected the debris, and disposed of the trash in a bin not accessible to wildlife.  That felt great for us, though the bird squawked its disapproval at me, along with the friends that had come to join the meal!

I gathered up some trash yesterday that had been scattered by the wind.

I bought another insulated, reusable shopping bag yesterday for my future trips to Anchorage and major shopping.  Hopefully, with this bag I will be able to purchase produce that is not pre-packaged, nor use a plastic bag to bring items home.

This was a busy 4th of July weekend, and I did not keep up with checking into the challenge.  With so many people in town it was easy to pick up trash, and I enjoyed steering people to our refillable water station at the Sustainable Seward booth.  Go plastic free days!

Happy July 4th.  In Seward we celebrated the holiday with the 92nd running of Mt. Marathon Race, parades and "Red, White and go Green!".  I made full use of my pledge to pick up trash today.
